COVID Notice
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, most of our Term 1 classes, groups and events will be delivered online. When the situation changes, stay tuned either here or on our Facebook page to hear announcements from us.
Classes, programs & events: Want to get to know the community a little better? Joining classes, programs and events at Mernda Community House is a great way to meet people while also getting something of value for yourself.
The best part? Most of what we offer is free for you to participate! We do the work behind the scenes to find funding to deliver our programs to you. It is part of our efforts to make as much of what we do accessible and affordable to everyone in our local community.
For more information on any of the classes, programs or events below, contact us directly and we’ll be happy to answer any of your questions.
Term One Program 2021
Our term program changes each term, so check back regularly to see what’s on offer. We have a variety of classes and programs that we are always trying to grow, so find something you’re interested in and come join us.
Use our Enroll button to register for our classes and programs.
Events
Our events can run just once or for a limited time. Be sure to join us because you never know when an event might happen again!
Creating Community Harmony
Do you knit or crochet? Do you love to sing? Our Creating Community Harmony project brings both of these activities together in a spectacular yarn bombing and community singalong project and event.
The project is being supported by Nana’s Home Basics, Mernda Hive Craft Group and Mernda Strummers and Singers. Our aim is to add some colour and excitement to the neighbourhood. Get in touch for more info!
Ongoing Programs
Our ongoing programs generally last longer than a single term. They’re a great way to participate throughout the entire year if you like. You’re welcome to come once or as often as you like. Whatever suits you best!
A place to make things together
Women’s* Shed: There are so many great reasons to be part of this program. Learn how to use hand and power tools, work with wood and other materials, learn the ins and outs of simple fix-it jobs around the house and so much more while in the company of other budding handywomen.
We have a great space available to us at the beautiful Farm Vigano waiting to be filled with the sounds of hammers, sawing and, of course, laughter.
Get in touch if this is you!
For everyone who loves to garden
Gardening Group: If you have a love for gardening, whether that is sharing your garden know-how or learning from others, then our Community Garden is waiting for you!
We have a lot to do because we are back at the beginning of this exciting adventure after some great new additions to our outdoor space, including a new front fence, new rainwater tanks, and a makeover of our back yard.
So if you want to get your hands dirty and reap the many rewards of growing food and learning about plants, get in touch!
Every second Friday, 1pm-2:30pm
At Mernda Community House and via Zoom (online event)
Who said homework couldn’t be fun
Homework Club: If you have children of primary school age who need a little extra help with their homework, reading, writing or math, then we can help.
The program is facilitated by Sarah Wasouff and our trusted Homework Club Volunteers. Every effort has been made to deliver a safe online environment for learning whilst making homework fun!
Every Thursday after school | During school terms
